i want your input!

I always tell my students that good writers develop their pieces based on their audience.  Good writers pay attention to their audience and create their work around them.  Good writers write to captivate, engage, inform, entertain and teach.  Good writers research to improve.  Good writers are always striving to become better by editing and rewriting their work over and over again.  I also tell them that good writing skills are not something they need to master in order to exit the 4th grade.  Good writing skills are needed for the rest of their lives.

In keeping with my message to my students, I wanted to transition those thoughts over to this blog.  As many of you know, I just began this journey at the beginning of last month and I have appreciated all the kind comments and messages received along the way.  But me being me, I have a checklist of items that I want to improve in this little space.

Here are just a few:

  1. Craft better photographs / relearn how to use my camera on the manual setting

  2. Create a more functional and user friendly blog format complete with drop down menus, archived posts by month, Pinterest and Instagram photos in the sidebar, etc.

  3. Optimize SEO settings (that’s blogger talk for increasing blog presence on search engines)

  4. Develop an email subscriber list and a possible newsletter

  5. Design an improved logo/header

And most importantly, listen to what you [my readers] want to hear.  I am very interested in knowing which topics are your favs and which you could do without.  It is very important to me to keep this blog moving in the right direction and that depends on you.

I’d love to know!  Send me an email at milesofglam@gmail.com or comment below.  You can also chat with me on Facebook or Instagram @tracywartman.  Links are on the blog.  Also, please don’t be shy in sharing my blog with others who may be interested in my content.  The more, the merrier!

Finally, thank you from the bottom of my heart for making the first month+ a personal success for me.  I truly mean that.  As I said in my first post, hitting the publish button was the hardest part but it has been a wonderful experience thus far. xo
