First and foremost, I want to thank everyone for the kind comments on Friday’s post. I had so many friends and acquaintances reach out to me saying that they feel the same way. If the post resonated with you in any way, I am so glad. My goal with this blog is not only to document my creative journey, but also to share some of my personal experiences as well. Thanks for the kind words and for following along!
On to the post of the day…
Last week I introduced a new undertaking…refreshing my boyfriend’s powder room.
Here’s a quick recap ~
Positives: He has extra tall ceilings and a nice white pedestal sink, which is staying.
Changes: Adding fun, removable wallpaper | incorporating a masculine touch | including some personal photos in the form of a small gallery wall | adding darker, painted molding on the bottom half of the walls | adding a new mirror, lighting and accessories | putting some shelves above the toilet.
Musts: This bathroom must be durable enough to survive his four kids and large family. Most importantly, I want him to love it!
A few days ago, I ordered three wallpaper samples from a store on Etsy and I’m looking forward to their arrival. In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to put together a few vision boards using each pattern ordered.
~ VISION BOARD #1 ~
Neutral with a southwestern vibe. I added a wooden mirror and shelves to balance out the black and white, and the gold lighting and frames warm the space up a bit.
~ VISION BOARD #2 ~
A modern herringbone with black molding. For this board, I incorporated a brass mirror but chose black and brass lights to balance the white background of the wallpaper. I included two mirrors on the board since I couldn’t decide which I liked best [round or oval]. Gallery wall frames would be a rustic brown.
~ VISION BOARD #3 ~
Gray and white trellis paper with gold and white accents. The gold mirror and shelving would add some glam to the room. The lighting fixtures would be placed on each side of the mirror and the white frames would be used for the gallery wall. For this paper I would go with dark gray lower molding rather than black. Out of the three, this one is his least favorite.
Right now it looks as if number 1 is in the lead, but you never can tell until the samples arrive and they are viewed in the space. What is your favorite? I’ll keep you updated as we go along! Have a great Monday!
